THE ORIGINAL SOCIETY.

 

1. ARE WE THE ORIGINAL BRITISH WHITE CATTLE SOCIETY OF AUSTRALIA?

 

ANSWER.

Yes we are.

The original Society was formed in 1984 at the RAS Show grounds Sydney.
Then on the 25th July 1991 we were Registered in NSW as a Limited Liability Company with the Australian Securities Commission (ASIC).
The Company is listed as The British White Cattle Society of Australia Ltd. ACN 051 599 449 (A Public Company)

2. DO WE HAVE ANY AFFILIATIONS WITH OTHER BRITISH WHITE CATTLE SOCIETIES?

ANSWER:

We have a long standing affiliation and a well established relationship with the UK and US Societies. We have no affiliations or obligations to any other British White Cattle Breeding groups or Associations in Australia.

3.  DO WE HAVE A GRADING UP PROGRAM?

ANSWER:

Yes we do have a Grading up Program.
We strongly recommend the use of a polled British breed as your base cow.

First cross  =   "C" Grade female approx 50% BW Blood
Second cross = "B" Grade female approx 75% BW Blood
Third cross = "A" Grade female approx 87.5% BW Blood females-only,( Bulls are Commercial or steered.)
Fourth cross = "AP" or Australian Pure approx 93% or better.(  Bulls and females.)
A pure bred British White Bull must be used over each successive cross.
All cattle must be polled.

4.MEMBERSHIP

HOW DO YOU BECOME A MEMBER?

ANSWER:

All applicants must be Nominated and Seconded by a full member of the Society. Applicants must fill out the Nomination  form, then lodge it with the Secretary. The application form will then be processed and put before the Board of Directors for consideration. Notification and material will be forwarded to the new applicant. Only when an application for membership has been formally approved and accepted will voting rights and other privileges be operational.

5. MEETINGS.

HOW OFTEN ARE SOCIETY MEETINGS HELD?

ANSWER:

We normally hold meetings twice a year, usually at a different location each time. This gives everyone the opportunity to interact with other members and look at their cattle.

6.  SEMEN

IS BRITISH WHITE CATTLE SEMEN AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS?

ANSWER:

Yes semen is available to members from various sources. We have a wide range of excellent bulls to choose from. (UK,USA and AUST) Contact the Society for details.

7. HERD RECORDING.

WHO DOES THE HERD RECORDING FOR THE SOCIETY?

ANSWER:

All of our stud records are held and managed by the Agricultural Business Research Institute at the University of New England, Armidale, NSW. (ABRI)

8. AIMS OF THE SOCIETY.

WHAT ARE THE PRINCIPAL AIMS OF THE SOCIETY?

ANSWER:

The Society has been established to:

1. To encourage the breeding and the preservation of the British White Breed in Australia.
2. To maintain an accurate set of Herd Book Records.
3. To publish Journals and Newsletters during each calendar year.
4. To follow and maintain the Standard of Excellence at all times especially in the Show Ring.
5. To maintain a harmonious relationship and the respect of members rights at all times.
6. To provide Trophies and prizes to show winners.
